The One

One word.
Whether it be an entrance essay, an interview question, or a conversation starter, I've always struggled with "Pick one word that best describes you and explain." There are a lot of words that describe me. Compassionate, stubborn, idealistic, analytical, charismatic (not the denominational descriptor), thoughtful, impulsive, and the list could go on. Despite the truth they carry, none of these are worthy to be the "one." They are simply incapable of capturing the essence of Asher. To use one of these words would be like saying a tree is tall. Having no previous knowledge of what a tree looks like, or what its function is, "tall" only describes the height of the thing, leaving the informed with an incomplete and underdeveloped understanding of what a tree is and does. A couple days ago the "one" came to me, pouncing me out of an unrelated thought.

And you'll simply have to wait to find out what one word is the one.
