the wounded & abused heart

If there's one thing I don't understand (and trust me, there are many, really), itis how an abused heart can return to it's abuser, expecting something different than before.

For the child doing so, I believe it's an internal , unquenchable desire to see things as they should be instead of what they really are. The truth hurts... and the fact of the matter is: it is much easier to believe the lie that you are somehow defective than the truth that your parents are crap.

How can one overcome a past others are so ferverantly attached to that they are incapable of seeing the present for what it really is and the future for what it truly could be?

Am I destined to be a victim of a reality that no longer exists?

CONTINUE TO LOVE ME

(Michelle Patterson, CCLI Registered)

Continue to love me, With that same love
Righteous and unchanging
Continue to love me, With that same love
Priceless and unfailing

Your love it reaches to the sky
Your righteousness, a mountain high
How priceless, Your unending love

Both high and low among men
Take cover under Your wings

How priceless, Your unending love
