Remember the Little Girl in Schindler's List?
The one with the red coat?
I first saw this movie in Jr. High.
I was perplexed.
Intrigued.
And naturally, I asked questions.
I wondered about the red coat. Why?
No one had an answer.
Spielberg himself says it's because the Holocaust went on with little opposition for so long; a red blood stain of shame.
When I see the color red in this gray movie
I think
hope.
life.
A splash of what could be, should be, of how things were meant to be in the midst of unfathomable horror and brokenness.
The color red.
It dares to dream and hope while the pain throbs and tears fall.
